The two Arm mainstream chips of the moment, and the M4 wins the silicon contest outright: 3,810 single-core against 2,410 is a generation-and-a-half of gap, with multi-core ahead too. What the X Plus has on its side is Windows and a far wider spread of laptop designs and prices than Apple's two Air sizes. The M4 is the better chip; whether it is the better purchase depends entirely on which operating system you were buying anyway.
