Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-46-100

Released Sep 4, 2024Laptop Processor

The higher-clocked of Qualcomm's two 8-core Snapdragon X Plus chips, announced in September 2024 for $700-$900 Copilot+ laptops. Eight Oryon cores with a 4.0 GHz single-core boost are paired with an Adreno X1-45 GPU at up to 1.40 GHz and the same 45 TOPS NPU as the 10-core parts, on a 4 nm process.

Pros

  • Eight Oryon cores with a 4.0 GHz single-core boost, against 3.4 GHz on the X1P-42-100
  • Adreno X1-45 rated up to 2.1 TFLOPS at up to 1.40 GHz, ahead of the 1.7 TFLOPS of the X1P-42-100
  • 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, the same as the 10-core Plus chips, for Copilot+ PC features
  • LPDDR5x-8448 support up to 64 GB at up to 135 GB/s, the same bandwidth Qualcomm quotes for the 10-core chips

Cons

  • The 4.0 GHz boost applies only to single-core loads; the multi-core maximum is 3.4 GHz
  • GPU is rated 2.1 TFLOPS, well below the 3.8 TFLOPS Adreno X1-85 of the 10-core Plus chips
  • 30 MB of total cache, against 42 MB on the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus chips
  • x86 apps run through emulation on Windows on Arm, so compatibility and speed vary by application
