Pros

Boost clock of up to 4.7 GHz, 200 MHz above the Ryzen 7 3800X, with the same 3.9 GHz base clock and 105 W TDP
8 cores and 16 threads with 32 MB of L3 cache on a 7 nm process
PCIe 4.0 support on X570 and B550 boards
Unlocked multiplier, and it drops into existing AM4 boards that have a Ryzen 3000-ready BIOS
Priced at $399, the same as the 3800X at launch

Cons

No cooler in the box; AMD recommends an AIO with a 280 mm radiator or equivalent air cooling
Gains over the 3800X are small and mostly limited to lightly threaded work
105 W TDP with a 142 W package power limit, well above the 65 W TDP of the Ryzen 7 3700X
No integrated graphics, so a discrete graphics card is required
