Samsung Galaxy Book5 (15.6-inch)

Released Jul 15, 2025$1,000 launch priceLaptop

Samsung's 15.6-inch Galaxy Book5 is a mainstream Windows laptop with the Intel Core Ultra 7 255U, 16GB of LPDDR5X and a 512GB SSD in a 1.55kg, 15.1mm aluminum body with a 61.2Wh battery. Samsung also offers a Core Ultra 5 225U version and other memory and storage options. The US price started at $999.99, and it is separate from the Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 360.

Pros

  • Aluminum body at 1.55kg and 15.1mm thick, with a keyboard that includes a numeric keypad
  • About 14 hours in a Wi-Fi battery test and about 9.7 hours in an office-work test in review testing; Samsung rates it at up to 19 hours of video playback
  • Broad port selection for its size: two USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, a microSD slot and a headphone/mic jack
  • The SSD sits in a replaceable M.2 slot, and the chassis barely warmed up even in a sustained-load test in review testing

Cons

  • 60Hz IPS screen covers only about 65% of sRGB and reached about 331 nits in review testing; Samsung does not publish a brightness rating
  • Two performance cores and ten efficiency cores put it about 15 to 20 percent behind Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake laptops in system benchmarks in review testing, and the integrated graphics are not suited to games
  • No Thunderbolt or USB4, Wi-Fi 6 rather than Wi-Fi 7, and a 12 TOPS NPU that is well below the 40 TOPS Copilot+ PC requirement
  • The fan reached about 46 dB(A) under load in review testing
