TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G
The TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G is a budget phone with a 6.78-inch 120Hz matte NXTPAPER IPS display, a Dimensity 6100+ chipset (C Spire version), 6GB RAM, a 50MP main camera, a 32MP front camera and a 5010mAh battery with 18W charging. US launch price was $199 at C Spire.
Pros
- Matte NXTPAPER 6.78-inch FHD+ screen cuts glare and reflections
- 120Hz refresh rate with 240Hz touch sampling on a sub-$200 phone
- 32MP front camera, higher than the 8MP unit on the non-NXTPAPER XL
- 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD slot up to 2TB and NFC
- 5010mAh battery and stereo speakers with DTS sound
Cons
- Only 18W charging, so a full charge takes about 2.3 hours
- 1080p@30fps maximum video and a 5MP ultra-wide plus 2MP depth sensor
- Software support is short: one OS upgrade and security updates until April 2027
- Verizon and Boost versions list a Dimensity 6300 instead of the 6100+, so the chip depends on the carrier
