AMD Ryzen 5 7500F

Released Jul 4, 2023$179 launch priceDesktop Processor

The cheapest way onto the AM5 platform: a six-core Zen 4 chip with the integrated GPU fused off, aimed at budget gaming builds that always have a discrete card installed. It gives up roughly nothing in games to the 7600 while costing less.

Pros

  • Lowest entry price on AM5, so the board and DDR5 can be upgraded to Zen 5 later without a new CPU socket
  • 5.0 GHz boost puts it within a few percent of the Ryzen 5 7600 in games
  • 65 W TDP / 88 W PPT — the bundled Wraith Stealth is genuinely adequate
  • Full 28 CPU PCIe 5.0 lanes: x16 graphics plus a Gen 5 NVMe slot, same as the pricier Ryzen 7000 parts
  • Unlocked for PBO and Curve Optimizer, which is where most of the free performance on Zen 4 lives

Cons

  • No integrated graphics at all — no display output for troubleshooting, no fallback if the GPU dies, no iGPU video encode
  • Launched China-first before reaching wider retail, and it is stocked less widely than the 7600 — availability and street price still vary by region
  • Six cores and 32 MB of L3 hold it back in heavily threaded work and in cache-sensitive simulation games
  • An AM5 board plus DDR5 still costs more than an equivalent AM4 build using a 5600 or 5700X3D
