iPhone 17e
Apple's iPhone 17e pairs the new A19 chip with a 48MP Fusion camera that adds an optical-quality 2x telephoto crop, doubles base storage to 256GB, and brings 15W MagSafe wireless charging to the budget iPhone line for $599. It keeps the older notch design and skips ProMotion.
Pros
- A19 chip delivers a meaningful CPU/GPU step up from the A18 in the previous entry-level model
- 48MP Fusion camera adds an optical-quality 2x telephoto crop that the prior generation lacked entirely
- Base storage doubles to 256GB at the same $599 launch price as its predecessor
- MagSafe/Qi2 wireless charging rises to 15W, up from 7.5W Qi on the previous generation
- IP68 rating and a tougher Ceramic Shield 2 front cover
Cons
- Still uses the older notch instead of Dynamic Island
- No ProMotion, so on-screen motion isn't as smooth as the standard iPhone 17
- No ultrawide camera; the telephoto is a crop from the main sensor, not a dedicated lens
- Apple's US price for this model later rose to $699/$899 for the two storage tiers after launch
