Intel Core i5-14450HX
The Core i5-14450HX is a Raptor Lake-HX Refresh laptop processor announced in January 2024, with 6 Performance and 4 Efficient cores (16 threads) boosting to 4.8 GHz. It has a 55 W base and 157 W maximum turbo power and appears in mainstream gaming laptops that pair it with a discrete GPU.
Pros
- 10 cores and 16 threads (6 Performance + 4 Efficient) suit multitasking and light content creation
- Performance cores boost up to 4.8 GHz
- Supports DDR5-5600 or DDR4-3200 memory, up to 192 GB
- In review testing of an ASUS TUF Gaming F16, Geekbench 6 scored 2,474 single-core and 11,974 multi-core
- In the same review, the Performance cores averaged about 4.2 GHz at 90 W over a 30-minute full load
Cons
- In review testing the chip peaked at 102 W and 96 °C in the first seconds of full load, so it needs solid cooling
- Integrated UHD Graphics with 16 execution units is basic, so gaming needs a discrete GPU
- Ten cores and 20 MB of L3 cache are fewer than the Core i7 and i9 chips in the same 14th Gen HX line offer
